Confirmed: Bremen Secures Köhn on Loan with Option to Buy – Bundesliga

SV Werder Bremen has announced the acquisition of Derrick Köhn on loan from FC Bayern München’s academy. The agreement features a loan fee and an option to make the transfer permanent.

Derrick Köhn’s anticipated return to German football has been officially confirmed. The 25-year-old has joined SV Werder Bremen on loan from Galatasaray Istanbul. The Turkish club has disclosed that they received a loan fee of €400,000, with an option to buy included in the deal, valued at just over €5 million.

Köhn, who can play wingback on either side, will provide depth to Bremen’s squad, with Felix Agu and Mitchell Weiser currently occupying the starting positions. Despite this, SV Werder Bremen’s head coach, Ole Werner, and club licensing director, Peter Niemeyer, emphasized Köhn’s role’s strategic importance in their remarks on the transfer.

“We’ve now filled our vacancy on the wing with Derrick, and we’re delighted about that,” Niemeyer said, “Derrick has gained international experience through his time in the Netherlands and Turkey, which he can bring to us. He also made a name for himself with strong performances in the second division at Hannover 96. We are very happy that we were able to capture him.”

“Derrick can play several positions on the left flank,” Werner added, “He has good pace and a good understanding of the game. As a defensive player in Hannover, he has a good rate of goals and assists. We are sure that he will enrich our squad with his qualities.”

“Werder is the right step for me to continue my development at a very good level in the Bundesliga,” Köhn himself said, “The talks with Ole Werner, [squad planner] Johannes Jahns, and Peter Niemeyer have convinced me and I’m really looking forward to my time at Werder.”

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Hoffenheim Preview: Guests Aiming for Consecutive Wins

Hoffenheim will head to Deutsche Bank Park for Saturday’s Bundesliga matchup, aiming to secure their second consecutive victory.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Dino Toppmöller began his second season as Frankfurt’s head coach with an impressive 4-1 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig in the DFB-Pokal. However, his side struggled in their Bundesliga debut against Borussia Dortmund at Signal-Iduna Park. Despite holding out for more than 70 minutes, Frankfurt succumbed to a late double from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, resulting in a 2-0 loss.

As a result, Eintracht Frankfurt has now gone five Bundesliga games without a win since their victory over Augsburg on April 19. Following a defeat on the road last weekend, they will look to find solace in the familiar surroundings of Deutsche Bank Park, where they were a formidable opponent last season. Despite losing only two of their 17 home league fixtures, they were notably frustrated by drawing eight matches.

Last season, Frankfurt successfully achieved a league double over Hoffenheim, securing 3-1 victories in both their home and away matches.

The hosts will need the services of injured players Oscar Hojlund and Mehdi Lounge.

Hoffenheim

Last season, Hoffenheim collected 46 points from 34 matches to finish in seventh position and just one point adrift of sixth-placed Frankfurt. As a result of their league finish, Hoffenheim will represent Germany alongside Frankfurt in the Europa League main draw.

On the domestic front, Die Kraichgauer has begun the new season unbeaten, although they were pushed to extra time and a penalty shootout in their Pokal match against Würzburger Kickers. Under Pellegrino Matarazzo’s guidance, the team triumphed 5-3 in the shootout, advancing to the second round.

Hoffenheim continued their strong form from the cup with a tight 3-2 win over newly promoted Holstein Kiel in their league opener. Andrej Kramarić scored a hat-trick, leading Hoffenheim to their third consecutive Bundesliga victory following triumphs over Darmstadt and Bayern Munich in the final two matches of the previous season.

This weekend, they will aim to secure another three points by seeking their first away win against Frankfurt since their 2-0 victory in April 2016.
