Confirmed Lineups: Real Madrid vs. VfB Stuttgart – Bundesliga

Below are the confirmed starting lineups for Real Madrid and VfB Stuttgart as the Swabians look to pull off a monumental upset in their UEFA Champions League debut.

After a 15-year absence from European football’s top tier, VfB Stuttgart returns to the spotlight with an exciting matchup against 15-time champions Real Madrid.

Coach Sebastian Hoeneß has made three changes to the lineup that secured a 3-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach last Saturday. In a surprising move, Ermedin Demirović has been placed on the bench.

The only defensive adjustment sees Anrie Chase replaced by the fit-again Anthony Rouault. Enzo Millot and Chris Führich will flank Deniz Undav in attack, while Fabian Rieder and Demirović take a seat on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, the Galacticos from Madrid boast a lineup filled with star power. Carlo Ancelotti has opted for four changes from their recent 2-0 win over Real Sociedad.

Eder Militão makes way for Lucas Vázquez, while Dani Carvajal shifts to an unconventional position as right center-back. Aurelien Tchouaméni comes in for the seasoned Luka Modrić, and Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo replace Brahim Díaz and Arda Güler.

Confirmed Real Madrid vs. Stuttgart lineups:

Real Madrid (4-4-2): Courtois – Vázquez, Carvajal (c), Rüdiger, Mendy – Rodrygo, Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham – Mbappé, Vinicius Jr

VfB Stuttgart (4-3-3): Nübel – Vagnoman, Rouault, Chabot, Mittelstädt – Leweling, Stiller, Karazor (c) – Millot, Undav, Führich

Eberl on Palhinha’s Early Days at Bayern: ‘It Just Takes Time’

Max Eberl has emphasized the importance of patience for Bayern Munich regarding Joao Palhinha, highlighting his anticipated significant impact in the future.

After joining Bayern for €51 million this summer, Palhinha made his long-awaited first start during Saturday’s impressive 6-1 victory over Holstein Kiel.

In an interview with Abendzeitung, Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting board member, discussed the reasons behind the delay in the Portugal international’s initial starting opportunity.

“Joao comes from the Premier League, which is a different league. You have to take that into account,” he said.

“He needed time to get used to everything – to the way Vinnie wants to play. New club, new city, new language, new coach, new team – everything is new. It just takes time.”

Eberl is certain that Palhinha’s importance to the club will grow.

“We defend very high, man to man. So when the opponent plays a long ball and it’s a one-on-one, you need a No. 6 who thinks defensively, switches immediately and helps the defender – and that’s Joao,” he said.

Vincent Kompany: Facing Bayern Should Be an “almost impossible mission”

Speaking about his long-term goals at Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany says he wants opponents to think they are “almost impossible” to beat.

In a comprehensive interview featured on UEFA’s website, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany discussed his club’s ambitions for the Champions League.

Although he’s still in the early stages of his tenure at Bayern, the former Manchester City star has ambitious long-term goals and aims to create a team that will instill fear throughout Europe.

“If you play against Bayern, it has to represent an almost impossible mission. I’m not saying it’s going to happen straight away, I’m not saying that’s where we are right now, but when I played against the very best Bayern teams, they could give you that feeling,” Kompany said.

“It’s not like this every year, but some teams have given you that feeling and that’s what you remember. For us, it’s the goal to come back as quickly as possible to give that feeling to many opponents.

“The aims are very simple. You always want the highest level. For us, whenever we speak about any game, any trophy, it’s always about trying to win the competition, and the Champions League is obviously the most difficult one.

There are definitely a few teams that have won it in recent years and will aspire to do so again, but this venue for the final holds a special significance, and there’s a unique atmosphere surrounding the Champions League,” Kompany stated.

Bayern last claimed the Champions League title in 2020 under Hansi Flick, and securing it again this season would be remarkable, especially since the final will take place at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
