Teun Koopmeiners, Juventus’ latest addition, has expressed his desire to be part of a triumphant, attacking, and competitive team following his transfer from Atalanta on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder is eager to contribute to the Bianconeri’s pursuit of success after what he described as a long and eventful summer.
In his official interview, Koopmeiners shared his excitement about joining Juventus and his determination to help the club secure significant titles. Having chosen the number 8 shirt, which holds personal meaning for him, Koopmeiners emphasizes his dedication to teamwork and collective accomplishments. With his impressive track record, including a Europa League victory with Atalanta, fans are optimistic that Koopmeiners will play a vital role in Juventus’ 2024-25 season campaign.
“I’m really happy to be here. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time. I’m really, really happy,” he said in his first interview with the club.
“For me Juventus is the biggest club in Italy. Everything I have seen from the club and the squad is beautiful; the jersey, too. With the way the team play, with the history, the club are the best in Italy for me.
“As I said, I’m really happy to be here and to play with these players and for this coach, I’m really pleased.”
Teun Koopmeiners recently shared insights into his discussions with his new coach, Thiago Motta. The Dutch midfielder, who joined Juventus from Atalanta in a €59 million deal, revealed that Motta has emphasized the importance of attacking play to the team’s strategy.
Koopmeiners mentioned that Motta inquired about his well-being and discussed how Juventus aims to excel as an attacking unit. As Koopmeiners integrates into the team, he expresses confidence in the club’s potential and is determined to contribute to their success.
“I’ve spoken to the boss. He asked me how I’m doing, but we also spoke about the way that we play and how we attack, because that’s important to us, to Juventus. We want to be a good attacking team. The defence is important, too, but we want to score goals in front of our fans.”
Juventus has emerged as the outright leader in Serie A after securing two consecutive 3-0 victories against Como and Verona. The team’s strong start to the season has allowed them to establish a two-point lead over their closest rival, Inter.
Juventus is atop the Serie A standings with six points. In comparison, Verona is eleventh with three points. As the season progresses, it remains to be seen whether Juventus can maintain their impressive form and continue to dominate the competition.
“I saw both games,” Koopmeiners said. “I’m really happy that we got six points, and that we’re top of the league. I’m also happy because it’s clearly a team that wants to attack. The team has scored six goals, so it’s a really good start.”
Describing his best qualities as a player, the Dutchman added: “I like scoring goals for the team, making assists as well of course. I want to do anything I can to help the team, even in defence. I like to run and play at a high tempo. I’m here to win things with this club.
He also explained why he opted to chose the no.8 shirt.
“It’s a really important number for me. I wore it all the time when I was a youngster. I also wore it at my first club in Holland. I told Juventus that it’s a really important number for me, and they said I could have it.
His first Juventus interview ended with a rallying message for the club’s supporters.
“As I said, I’m really happy to be here, finally! It took a long time, but I’m here at last. We have work to do, but we can win it together.”
Teun Koopmeiners has expressed gratitude to Juventus for allowing him to wear Claudio Marchisio’s iconic No. 8 shirt. During his first interview with the club’s media channels, Koopmeiners shared that he requested the jersey number due to its sentimental value. The Dutch midfielder explained that he has donned the No. 8 throughout his football career, including his time at his first club in the Netherlands.
In addition to discussing his shirt number, Koopmeiners spoke of his excitement about being part of an attacking team. They emphasized his determination to win trophies with Juventus. Having completed a €60 million move from Atalanta on Wednesday, Koopmeiners is eager to make his mark in Turin. As he embarks on this new chapter in his career, Koopmeiners aims to honor Juventus’ illustrious history and contribute to the club’s future success.
In his initial interview, the 26-year-old athlete elaborated on the personal significance of the number 8 jersey. He shared an anecdote about how the number symbolized good fortune throughout his life, representing essential milestones such as his eighth birthday when he first discovered his love for the sport.
“It’s a really important number for me. I wore it all the time when I was a youngster. I also wore it at my first club in Holland.
“I told Juventus that it’s a really important number for me, and they said I could have it.”
Since Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey’s departure, the iconic Juventus number 8 jersey has been left unclaimed. This notable absence has left fans speculating about who will be the next player to don the prestigious shirt and follow in the footsteps of the team’s legendary players.
Italian international Claudio Marchisio was one of the most famous players to wear the number 8 jersey for Juventus in the 21st century. Marchisio proudly wore the number 8 for an impressive nine-year span between 2009 and 2018, solidifying his place in the team’s history. As the search for the following number 8 continues, supporters eagerly await the announcement of the player who will carry on the legacy of this significant squad number.
